Local-first desktop dictation with 100+ voice commands, on-device transcription in 25+ languages, file transcription, and optional AI polish.

I wanted to create a subscription free, private, lightweight dictation app that doesn't force registrations, sign ups or capture email or user data. It can also do local file transcriptions and run 100+ voice commands.

I use HeardRight daily for transcriptions and it's earned a permanent spot on my Mac. The recent updates pushed it from good to genuinely excellent, to the point that I cancelled my Wispr Flow subscription.

Transcription is fast and accurate, and everything runs on-device, so nothing I dictate ever leaves my machine. That matters more than people realise when you're dictating work stuff all day.

The UI is where it really shines. Everything you need is packed in neatly, and the dock is honestly the best-looking one I've seen in a utility app. That orange is my newfound favourite.

Still working my way through the Commands feature. There's a lot in there and I haven't memorised them all yet, but the ones I do use save real time.

Paying once and owning it outright feels right for a tool I use this much
