Why we built Edita?
We kept coming back to one question: Why does a good DITA authoring tool have to cost so much?
Most technical writers don't need another bloated tool with hundreds of features. They need something simple, reliable, and affordable that gets the job done.
So we built Edita, an enterprise-grade DITA/XML authoring for just $10/month, with no expensive add-ons, complicated migrations, or vendor lock-in. We believe documentation budgets should go toward better content, not bigger software bills.
Who is it for?
Pretty much anyone working with DITA/XML documentation and making product-content AI friendly:
Technical writers and documentation teams who want to simplify authoring, validation, and publishing.
Freelancers and startups who need professional tools without enterprise pricing.
Agencies and large enterprises managing complex documentation across multiple projects.
What feedback would help us most?
We're particularly curious about three things:
Usability: Does Edita actually make your everyday writing and publishing easier?
Missing features: What's the one thing your current authoring tool does that you'd miss in Edita?
Real-world performance: How well does it handle your existing DITA projects, especially large or complex ones?
We're trying to build the tool that gives technical writers everything they need, without making them pay for everything they don't. We're not trying to build the tool with the most features.
Give Edita a spin. We'd love to hear what works, what doesn't, and what we should build next.
