Hi Product Hunt!
I'm building GitPay to make paying open-source contributors a natural part of the development workflow.
Open-source maintainers already use GitHub to review pull requests, run CI/CD pipelines, and manage contributions. But rewarding contributors often means switching tools, handling wallet addresses, and executing payments manually.
GitPay brings payouts directly into GitHub Actions. A maintainer can comment /send alice 50 on a pull request, and GitPay validates the request against configured policies before initiating a payment from the maintainer's wallet.
I started this project as XOps during the Google Summer of Code 2026 application period and developed it at AOSSIE with the guidance of my mentors. Since then, I've taken it from a proof of concept to v1.0.0, with successful testnet settlements using demo adopter repositories.
GitPay is open source, runs within the adopting repository's CI/CD workflow, and is designed so that it never takes custody of funds.
I'd love your feedback:
How do you currently reward contributors to your open-source projects?
What security controls would you require before automating payouts?
What integrations would make GitPay useful for your team?
Explore the repository, share your thoughts, and help shape the future of open-source contributor payments!
