Hey Product Hunt! I’m Mohamed Ismail, the maker of Git Receipts 👋
This started with a simple question: what if you could print your GitHub year like a receipt?
I wanted to turn the familiar contribution grid into something you could keep. A thermal receipt felt like a fun way to do that.
Enter a public GitHub username, choose a year, and watch a tiny printer feed your receipt onto the screen. You can save it, share it, add it to your README, or print it on paper.
Getting the printer to feel right took a lot of attention. The paper feed, the cutting animation, the typography, and the achievement stamp all became little projects of their own.
I also cared about keeping the numbers honest. The receipt uses available GitHub data, leaves missing information out, and clearly labels sample activity.
Git Receipts is free and open source. It’s the first project in Beyond the Green Squares, my series exploring what GitHub activity can become.
If you’re curious about the build, I shared the story here:

Give it a try with your own profile. Does the printer feel convincing? Is there anything you’d like to see on your receipt?
Thanks for checking it out!
