Hey PH 👋 I built GPIS because I wanted a tool that could answer "has something like this happened before, and how did it end?", without sending sensitive analysis to a cloud API. The core idea: instead of asking an LLM to predict the future, ask it to find the closest historical pattern from a verified corpus and be explicit about its confidence. Every claim gets checked against the source data. Weak outputs get flagged or rejected. The agentic loop is the part I'm most curious to get feedback on: each iteration refines the query, the third+ iterations actively search for counterexamples to the current hypothesis, and the loop stops when confidence stops improving (delta < 0.008). It can run for up to 7 iterations. Backtesting was the hardest part to design honestly — I used only events where the outcome is already documented, and the system never sees the outcome during analysis. I built a local Windows tool for geopolitical scenario analysis, backtesting, and report generation

I ve been building a side project called GPIS, a Windows-first local AI app for geopolitical and political-risk analysis.

The first idea was honestly more flashy: AI that helps predict geopolitical events.

But after testing it, I realized that was probably the worst possible framing.

The problem is that AI models can sound very confident even when the evidence is weak. In geopolitics this is dangerous, because a nice narrative can feel like analysis, even when it is just pattern-matching with too much confidence.
