Forrrge is a native visual playground for Mac and iPad. Type an idea, pick a style, get a bunch of directions back fast, then use your own taste to decide what works. Different from other generators: you bring your own AI key (Google, OpenAI, Hugging Face) and pay the model's real cost. No subscription, no credits, no per image fee. Prompts go straight to the provider, keys stay in your Keychain. Started with app icons. 1.1 adds thumbnails. $2.99 once, one purchase covers Mac and iPad.

How does the image quality actually compare when routing through different providers like Google vs OpenAI, does it feel consistent enough to mix and match within a single project?
@elanurkeysan It is not perfectly consistent across providers, and honestly I think that is part of the usefulness.
The models have different personalities. Some are better at following complex constraints, some are better at clean photoreal output, some are better for fast cheap exploration. I usually mix them early when I’m looking for directions, then settle into the one that seems to understand the project best.
curious how it handles models that dont really do icons well, like if i plug in a text heavy hugging face model does it just return garbage or is there some filtering on the output
@sinan1042966 Great question. Right now Forrrge does not let you plug in any arbitrary Hugging Face model. It exposes a small set of image models I picked for this kind of visual work: FLUX.1 Schnell, SDXL, and SD 3 Medium.
There is not a secret quality filter that hides bad generations. The model still matters. Forrrge shapes the prompt pretty tightly around icon or thumbnail composition, aspect ratio, silhouette, background, style, lighting, and export target. If a model is weak at a certain job, you will see that in the output.
That is also why the app is built around quick iteration and a saved gallery. It is less “every render is perfect” and more “try directions quickly, keep the good ones, throw away the weird ones.”
bringing my own key and paying the model directly is exactly the kind of no-nonsense setup i want. tried it for a couple app icons and the directions came back fast enough that i actually kept refining instead of giving up.
@kranur0pkq That is exactly the behavior I was hoping for.
I wanted it to feel fast and cheap enough that you keep refining instead of rationing attempts. A lot of the good stuff comes after a few strange drafts, so the app is built around making that loop feel easy.
The bring-your-own-key approach is genuinely refreshing, especially seeing real costs instead of mysterious credit math. App icon variations came back fast and the thumbnail addition in 1.1 makes it feel way more useful for quick mockups.
@nevzatzmer6qyj Really appreciate that. The real cost part was important to me because credit math always makes me hesitate before experimenting.
The thumbnail work is meant to make Forrrge useful beyond the app icon moment too. Sometimes you need the polished icon. Sometimes you just need quick still artwork for a mockup, a post, or a launch asset.
