Hey Product Hunt 👋 I am really excited to share Folly with you today. I built Folly because I was tired of killing my houseplants. I quickly realized it wasn't just a me problem. My wife and our friends were all experiencing the exact same real life issue. We tried a bunch of generic watering reminder apps, but our plants still struggled. It took a while to realize that watering a plant every Sunday makes zero sense if the weather changes, the seasons shift, or the plant lives in a dark bathroom instead of a sunny windowsill. We wanted to make something that actually pays attention to where your plant lives rather than just running on basic timers. Here is what we built: 📸 ID and Diagnose: You can take a photo to identify a plant or figure out why it is sick, and the app gives you a clear treatment plan. 💧 Smart Care Schedules: Folly adjusts care automatically based on plant attributes, specific room, current season, and your local weather. 📍 Multiple Growing Sites: You can track plants across different locations. If you have plants at home and others at the office, Folly monitors the weather and environment for each location separately. 🌱 Tailored Growth: The app sends personalized weather alerts and monthly care guides based entirely on your specific setup. In the early days, we focused on building a static database of plant care tips. After testing it with friends, we realized static advice is pretty useless in the real world. We threw out that approach and rebuilt the app to pull in live environmental data so it can adapt to your space dynamically. Folly is free to download on iOS and Android, and there is an optional Pro tier. I would love to hear your feedback, answer your questions, and hear what you think we should build next. 🪴

Honestly the weather auto-adjust thing is kind of genius, my monstera schedule has actually been on point since I started using it. Plus identifying plants from a photo just works, which surprised me for a free app.

One thing I'd love is a community trade or cuttings marketplace built into the app, so I can swap propagation cuttings with other Folly users nearby. Would make plant collecting way more fun and social.
