Hi Product Hunt, I'm Kanata, the maker of Flowen.
About a year ago, I had never built an app or studied programming. I started learning from scratch and have spent roughly four months building Flowen since May.
I wanted a note app I could open and immediately write in: fast, lightweight, refined, and enjoyable to use.
I kept frequently used buttons near the bottom of the screen and limited features to reduce clutter, decisions, and taps. I paid close attention to transitions and animation so moving around the app would feel natural without interrupting a thought.
Capture thoughts in Quick Note or with on-device voice input, then save what you want to keep as Notes. Organize them in tabs and search across them. Photo and video headers make it a personal space worth coming back to. No account is required, and notes stay on your device. GPT-6 Astra helped with refactoring across the app and refining the details of interaction. When switching between Home and Search, we worked on coordinating note rows, Quick Note, the Premium banner, and the header gradient. I tested and adjusted everything from staggered row timing to the final settling motion of a spring.
The work went beyond animation: keyboard focus when returning from the Lock Screen while search, settings, or a note was open; restoring backups from another device; video headers and their poster images; and inconsistencies between settings, guides, and translations. Astra helped uncover and fix gaps between features.
The aim was fewer decisions and steps, with a fast, lightweight, comfortable experience. I set the direction and tested on my iPhone. Changes that compiled but felt wrong were revised or reverted. Astra helped translate that feel into code and trace the causes when something broke.
