I started WhoaVerse back in 2014 when I was a college student at Lund University, with a simple goal to get a deeper understanding of web technologies popular at the time. Many sleepless nights and a few years later, it turned into a huge community called Voat, which unfortunately got shut down in 2020. I sold my stake (which was around 30% I believe), hoping that the new owners would keep working on Voat and keep it alive and well. I dropped the ball there and I kept feeling like I owe it to the community to make things right.
In this day and age, I feel like freedom of expression is under constant pressure, comedians are constantly under attack for even joking about some "untouchable issues", and the world as I remember it is rapidly changing, and I am not certain that it is for the better, to be frank.
Now, the time has come for me to get a deeper understanding of even newer web technologies, so I started building this site, which I indend to keep alive for as long as I can afford it (and when the time comes, I'm sure I can rely on community support, which kept Voat alive for many years).
