Hey everyone 👋
I built FlatLabs because I kept running into the same problem: every time I needed a fashion flat — a simple technical drawing of a garment — it turned into a 45-minute detour through bad templates, broken files, and the pen tool.
I work in fashion production, and I've seen this frustration from every angle: designers redrawing the same shapes over and over, brand owners who can't communicate their ideas without hiring an illustrator, and production teams receiving flats that don't follow any standard.
The professional tools that solve this? €5,000+. That felt wrong.
So I built a modular system: you pick a garment type, choose components (neckline, sleeves, torso), and they snap together into a clean, editable SVG. No drawing skills needed. No pen tool. No fighting with someone else's messy Illustrator file.
Right now it's a proof of concept — t-shirts only, with three torso shapes, three necklines, and three sleeve types. The measurements aren't production-grade yet. But the system works, and it's built to scale.
I'd love to hear from anyone who works with garment flats:
- What's your current workflow?
- What's the most frustrating part?
- Would you actually use something like this?
Honest feedback is more valuable to me than upvotes. Thanks for checking it out.
