Every folder on macOS looks nearly the same, so finding the right one often means scanning labels. Flairy takes a more visual approach: replace default folders with beautifully crafted icons from a growing, curated library designed to feel at home on macOS. Choose from categories like design, AI, development, photography, finance, and more, or upload your own image. Simple, native, and completely free.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
Flairy started as a small side project I built for myself.
As a visual person, I like organizing my Mac in a way that helps me find things quickly. Tinting folders and adding symbols helped, but when several folders had the same color, I still found myself reading the labels to figure out which was which.
So I started creating icons that represented the kinds of folders I actually had on my Mac, from design and development to photography, finance, and everyday stuff. I wanted each one to be meaningful, carefully crafted, and visually cohesive with macOS.
Eventually, I thought: why not turn this into a simple native app and share it with everyone?
That became Flairy, and also my first macOS app.
I launched it with 50+ curated icons across different categories. Since sharing it with the Mac community, feedback has helped me improve the experience, expand compatibility, add custom image uploads, and refine how the app works.
Flairy is free, with no ads or trackers, and I’m continuing to create new icon sets and improve the experience.
I’d love to hear what you think, especially what icon categories you’d like to see next!
