FirstLight turns your MacBook’s ambient light sensor into a morning light tracker. See live lux and build enough light exposure to help reset your body clock—without extra hardware, guesswork, or manual math. A free, open-source macOS menu bar app.
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built FirstLight because “get morning sunlight” is good advice, but it’s hard to know whether the light is actually bright enough—or how long is enough.
FirstLight uses the ambient light sensor already inside your MacBook to show live lux and turn changing brightness into a simple daily light-dose countdown. It lives in the menu bar, runs locally, and needs no account or extra device.
It’s free and open source. I’d especially love feedback on Mac model compatibility and whether the progress view makes morning light easier to act on.
