Firsthand reads 17,491 companies' own careers sites instead of buying aggregator feeds, so every role is live on the employer's site today — no reposts, no ghost jobs, no recruiter spam. It also reads the salary out of the advert: around 650,000 roles say what they pay.

Hi PH 👋
I got tired of job boards. You search for something, get forty results, and thirty of them are the same role reposted by agencies, or a listing that closed in March and is still up because nobody takes anything down.
So Firsthand does the opposite of aggregating. It crawls 17,491 companies' own careers pages directly — Workday, Greenhouse, Taleo, iCIMS, whatever they use — and shows you what is actually on their site right now. Every "Apply" button goes to the employer, not to us. There is no middle step and nothing is resold.
Two things came out of building it that I did not expect:
Most adverts do not say what they pay, and the law is what changes that. Our parser reads pay out of the employer's own wording, so I could count: around 650,000 of the 1.7M adverts we have read name a figure. Then I compared each employer with itself — the ~400 firms that post at least a hundred adverts on both sides of a US state line. Same companies, same week, same roles: 67% state pay where a law requires it, 38% where none does. Twenty-nine points, from the rule alone. All fourteen jurisdictions with a posting law finish in the top fifteen of fifty-one. The method is written out at firsthandcareers.com/pay-transparency
Half the adverts that state pay state an hourly rate. I had built a white-collar job site in my head and the data was having none of it.
It is honest about what it does not know: estimated salaries are marked "(est)" and never mixed in with what the employer actually wrote.
Happy to answer anything, and genuinely happy to be told where it is wrong — there is a "report this" on every posting and I read them.
