I'm Vitali, and I built file FORCE because I was tired of jumping between Finder, a terminal, a Git client and a music app just to get through my day with files.
file FORCE is a fast file manager for macOS, Windows and Linux. It keeps your files and the tools around them in one window:
- 🗂 Tabs and dual panes, drag and drop between them, pinned tabs
- 🔍 Smart search with filters: kind:video size:>100mb modified:<7d, git:main, music:beatles
- 👀 Quick Look for anything: PDFs, archives (ZIP, RAR), videos and songs play right in the preview
- 🌿 Git built in: commit, log, diff, branches, without leaving the folder
- 🔐 SSH: browse remote servers like local folders
- ✉️ Mail and 🎵 Music extensions: send a file as an attachment in one click, play your library, Spotify or Yandex Music
- 🧩 An extension SDK, so you can add your own menu items, sidebar sections and search filters
It's built in Rust on GPUI (the UI engine behind the Zed editor), so it stays light and quick even in folders with thousands of files.
