Respirator masks that look like your face. Ostensibly for making it easier to use Face ID, but I can imagine a lot of fun use cases for this. Also love the company description: "Resting Risk Face is a design firm in San Francisco that makes trendy dystopian products." I hope they make more stuff!

It shouldn’t be able to fool Face ID since it’s mask-shaped. The image printed on it shouldn’t make a difference. Besides, these masks aren’t made to protect people against diseases. They keep small particles out, but viruses are even smaller (~1/3 of the size of the smallest particles that the N95 masks can block.)

@anna_0x for the first part they say you have to set it as an alternative appearance

@saxon_brooker it would still have to register as a face though. You can’t register, say, your hand or a plush toy as a face to begin with. Similarly, you cannot register a face wearing a mask because it doesn’t “look” like a face to the 3D camera. It might look like one on the screen, but you’re forgetting the camera can supposedly make out the exact shape of what it’s looking at. So it will be able to tell that the mask is not SHAPED like a face, even if it LOOKS like one.

Face ID is working with depth so wearing a mask shouldn't make you able to unlock anything. false advertising.
