For years, my mornings started with a jarring alarm, pulling me into the day with a sense of urgency and stress. I longed for a more peaceful, centered way to wake up. As a person of faith, I wanted to connect with God from the first moments of my day, but no app on the market offered that experience. Around this time I was invested in the debate between permanent daylight savings or standard time. I learned that a sleep schedule aligned with the circadian rhythm was important and it was lacking in many alarm apps.
Memento Mori At any day, one may pass from this world and I knew that starting with the Word would remind me to make the most of my day.
That's when I conceived of Ephphatha: to transform the mundane routine of waking up from a stressful chore into a moment of spiritual connection.
What is Ephphatha?
Ephphatha is an alarm clock app for iOS that gently wakes you with audio of Bible scripture instead of a generic alarm.
But it's more than just an audio player. I focused on a few unique features to make the experience special:
🌅 Sunrise Alarms: One of the core feature! Ephphatha uses your location to sync your alarm with the exact time of sunrise, wherever you are in the world. You can set it for the exact moment, or minutes before or after.
📖 Multiple Bible Versions: Listen in the translation that speaks to you. I've launched with the King James Version (KJV), Douay-Rheims (DRA), and the Reina Valera 1909 (RV1909) for our Spanish-speaking users.
🎧 A Voice for Your Awakening: The voice you wake up to is deeply personal. Choose from a multitude of distinct, high-quality voices to find the one that brings you the most peace and clarity.
