Earshot turns a spare phone into a listener for your home. When it hears the smoke alarm, the doorbell, the baby or a sound you describe in your own words, everyone in your household gets an alert, wherever they are. Audio never leaves the phone.

Hi Product Hunt
Smart sensors exist, but most of us already have the hardware: an old phone in a drawer.
How it works
• Install Earshot Detector on the spare phone (iPhone or Android) and leave it plugged in where
the sound happens. Screen off.
• In Earshot Alerts on your own iPhone, choose what it listens for: smoke alarm, doorbell, baby
crying, dog barking and six more, or describe any sound in a few words ("kettle whistling").
• When it hears one, everyone in your household gets the alert, wherever they are. Urgent sounds
can break through Focus.
What I cared about
• Privacy: the detector decides on the phone itself. No audio, recording or anything computed from
it ever leaves it. No ads, no tracking, no analytics.
• Failing loudly: if a detector stops listening (unplugged, no Wi-Fi), the household is told within
10 minutes, so you never assume it's listening when it isn't.
• One subscription for the whole household, with 14 days free. Everyone in the household gets the
alerts; only one person pays.
What it isn't: a fire alarm. It's an extra pair of ears: it can miss a sound, and a phone can
lose power. Keep your smoke alarms.
Earshot Alerts is iPhone-only for now; detectors can be iPhone or Android.
I'd love to hear which sounds you'd want it to listen for, and anything that gets in your way
setting it up. I'm here all day to answer.
