DZX Studio brings modern development tools to the legendary ZX Spectrum. A native macOS IDE for creating 48K and 128K software, featuring Sinclair BASIC and Z80 Assembly editors, integrated debugging, graphics and music tools, and AI-assisted workflows. Write, build, test, and export authentic Spectrum programs from a single environment. Free on the Mac App Store.

Hi Product Hunt!
I’m an independent developer, and I’d like to introduce DZX Studio, a project that brings modern software development tools to one of the most iconic home computers ever made: the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
The ZX Spectrum introduced an entire generation to programming. Yet developing software for it today often means working with fragmented tools, outdated workflows, or environments that feel disconnected from modern development practices.
I wanted to change that.
DZX Studio is a native macOS development environment that combines Sinclair BASIC, Z80 Assembly, graphics editing, music composition, debugging, and testing into a single integrated workspace.
It supports both 48K and 128K machines, produces authentic tape files, and includes AI-assisted development workflows.
My goal wasn’t to recreate the limitations of 1982. It was to give developers modern tools to create software for the original hardware.
DZX Studio is available for free on the Mac App Store.
I’d love to hear what you think, especially from developers who grew up with the Spectrum or are discovering it for the first time.
