Drum Rack is a drum machine for iPhone that synthesizes its sounds instead of using samples. It combines four drum voices with a 32-step sequencer, per-step velocity, ratchets, nudge and pitch envelopes. Patterns can be exported as WAV or MIDI for further work in a DAW. The app is free, contains no ads and requires no account. An Android version and further updates are in development.
Hi everyone, I’m Frank, the maker of Drum Rack.
I built Drum Rack because I wanted a small drum machine that generates its sounds through synthesis instead of relying on samples. The idea was to keep it direct and playable, while still offering enough control to shape the drums and build patterns quickly.
It combines four synthesized drum voices with a 32-step sequencer, including per-step velocity, ratchets, nudge and pitch envelopes. Patterns can also be exported as WAV or MIDI for further work in a DAW.
The iPhone version is now live on the App Store, and I’m continuing to develop it with further improvements and updates planned.
I’d really like to hear how other musicians and producers use it, and what you think could be improved.
