Reviewers mostly praise Docker for making environments consistent from laptop to production, cutting down “works on my machine” problems and keeping services with very different dependencies from interfering with each other. They describe deployment as more predictable once a Dockerfile is set up, and useful for safely trying software without hard-installing it on a machine. The main complaints are practical, not conceptual: image sizes can quietly bloat, build cache behavior can be fragile and opaque, and mounted-volume performance on macOS still feels slow on larger projects.
