DNP Score is similar to an individual's credit score or a company's business rating. Many different risk factors are involved when you own an internet domain name. Risk factors can impede or literally halt the ability to use a particular domain name for commerce. Certain factors can potentially lead to theft of the domain name, loss of the domain name to another party, or cause a significant loss of internet traffic to the website on that domain name. Other issues such as domain ownership disputes, being put on email blacklists, malware, or being de-listed or banned in internet search engines can cause problems and loss of revenue. DNProtect's DNP Score takes many different risk potential risk factors into account. Our DNP Scoring system collects the necessary risk data, processes that data, and assigns a value (positive or negative) to each risk factor. The scoring system then calculates the resulting DNP Score for each domain name. The DNP Score is based on a scale of up to 800 points. Every domain name begins with a median score of 400. Then, positive risk factors and negative risk factors are applied to the score. A higher DNP Score means that the domain name has less risk overall. A lower DNP Score means that the domain name has more risk.
