Great tool! I must say - I have recently started with devops, and this sounds to me very interesting and helpful! No doubts it will indeed be in my feature development and in the further steps.. ^_^ Congrats for the launching!
Maxim Wheatley
@maria_brm Thanks, Maria! Appreciate the support. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this being more new to this! We want to empower developers to operate with more data, but with less effort and stress to make the data work for THEM. We hope you'll help us share Dev Lake!
Nitin Vasanth
@maria_brm Would love to see Dev Lake be part of your Journey ! Appreciate your warm thoughts.

DevLake is a free and open-source product for developers. It's a 'data lake' and analytics tool to unify and make sense of the often fragmented and disparate data within all your tools DevLake brings many of your dev tools together (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, Jira, etc.), analyzing the data and visualizing it in customizable dashboards to help you make sense of things, without the time and hassle of pulling it all together. We built this to give you the capability to ask your dev tools any question. Any developer interested in the data within their development and delivery processes will hopefully find that DevLake gives them clarity, saves them time, and helps them to improve their code, processes, and teams, all with personalized dashboards. You can get DevLake by simply cloning it from GitHub: https://github.com/merico-dev/lake We also teamed up with another startup to offer a neat virtual environment solution in case you don't want to run it locally (That's also on GitHub!) This is our third (!!!) PH Launch, our team are super proud of what we've built, and we will be here all day to hear your feedback, answer questions, and help you get set up! More Dev. Less Ops.

Great tool but why only limiting this to Dev tools @maxim_wheatley?
Maxim Wheatley
@giri Thanks for the support, Girdharee! Any other tools come to mind? We actually developed the architecture of this to be super flexible, so that end-users can create connectors to any data source they want! (So we could prioritize the development of some of those suggestions!) Otherwise, as Dev Lake is open source, developers can easily merge new data sources so that everybody can benefit!
Nitin Vasanth
@giri Thanks for the question. This is something we too think about. Do you have any immediate thoughts on where else you would like to see similar tool ? Appreciate your support.
Girdharee Saran
How can this be used by marketing teams? I also face a similar situation (Analytics, console, third party data, internal metrics)
Jinglei Ren
@giri Great idea! Thanks. Dev Lake has a data framework and plugin system. Essentially it can support any kind of data. As CEO, I am indeed interested in what effects the new software features make in terms of # users, visits, clicks, etc. Not far from your scenario, is it?
Kyle Sleeper
Awesome product. This will go a long way in identifying patterns and trends over time in development processes. I could see resource planners having a field day with the kind of insights this will enable.
Maxim Wheatley
@ksleeps42 Thanks for the support as always my brother! Means the world, as you know!
Nitin Vasanth
@ksleeps42 Thank you. It means a lot to us coming from someone this experienced. We sure wannna uncover insights that empower developers make decisions easier.
Jinglei Ren
@ksleeps42 It is a great point! Exactly where we are heading. Building models and finding insights over the data and metrics.

Checked it out; Totally cool project! This gets me thinking, what inspired the team to build this tool ? What do you think would be the future of this product ( The end goal / vision )?
Maxim Wheatley
@krutika_subramanian Great question! We have spent nearly three years focused on building analytics tools for developers and their teams, and one really important common challenge became clear to us: No matter what teams are building, or what tools they are using, they all struggle with having too many places to pay attention to, too many data sources to think about, and the headaches to make sense of all this, to report on it, to draw conclusions of it seem universal. We wanted to build the solution to this pain point, by bringing all the data together to provide the most complete view we could possibly provide. We also wanted to make things as customizable as we could (without losing the practicality) as we found many developers frustrated with how many analytics products make them work with a one-size-fits-all approach! Thanks for the support!
Nitin Vasanth
@krutika_subramanian I think @maxim_wheatley have answered it spot on. I would also like to add that though are few paid tools that help augment this data collection, there are not many free and opensource tools. This point becomes crucial for many opensource teams / startups that run with limited revenue/resources.
Nitin Vasanth
One key vision is that developers should be able to view and customise their dashboards as they wish. We believe every development team is different - with different dynamics, tool chain and work flow. Few prebuilt templates wouldn't suit all teams.
Deep Prakash
Great to know the effort.
Nitin Vasanth
@deep_prakash2 Thank you for checking the product out. More updates to Dev Lake coming soon.
Jinglei Ren
@deep_prakash2 Thanks! Many new features are under development. Your potential contribution is very welcome :)
Deep Prakash
@basicthinker Sure Jinglei, Let me know if you've anything for me.
