I am incredibly excited (and a little nervous!) to finally share Deskie with all of you today.
The idea for Deskie wasn't born in a cozy brainstorming session or a corporate boardroom. It was actually born out of sheer frustration at 2:00 AM on a chaotic night. I was desperately trying to book a restaurant venue for an important event happening the very next day. I called place after place. Some went straight to voicemail, a few automated bots gave me rigid, broken menu options that couldn't understand what I actually needed, and the rest just rang out into the night.
It hit me right then: the whole communication ecosystem for small businesses felt broken.
On one side, you have passionate business owners who are too busy managing customers in real-time to pick up every single ring. On the other side, you have customers who just want a quick answer or a booking without jumping through hoops. Every "fix" out there was either too expensive, too robotic, or required a massive dev team to set up.
So, we decided to deep dive into the problem. We asked ourselves: What if an AI receptionist could actually hold a natural, human-like conversation? What if it could instantly handle bookings, save customer details without a complex CRM, and even switch languages mid-sentence if a customer wanted to speak in Hindi, English, or any regional language?
