DataAgent is an AI data analyst that runs 100% on your Windows machine. Ask questions in plain English — it writes real SQL against a local DuckDB warehouse, runs it read-only, and draws the chart. Inspect every query, build dashboards (30+ chart types), and export a realpbix for Power BI. Works with local LLMs (Ollama, LM Studio) or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — no telemetry, your data never leaves your machine.

Hi everyone — I built DataAgent because I kept doing this: export a CSV, paste it into ChatGPT, screenshot the chart, rebuild it in Excel, again.
DataAgent is a desktop app for Windows that puts the warehouse (DuckDB), the AI chat, a SQL explorer, dashboards and an Excel-like spreadsheet side by side. You ask questions in plain English and it writes SQL, runs it locally, and draws the chart. Dashboards export as a real .pbix — double-click it in Power BI Desktop and it works, with the star schema and DAX measures intact.
Two things I didn't compromise on:
- Local-first: no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting. The warehouse is a local DuckDB file, and you can point the LLM at Ollama or LM Studio — the whole loop works with the network cable pulled out.
- Honest AI: analysis opens your warehouse read-only, every answer shows the exact SQL it ran, and if no model is configured the app says so instead of guessing.
Windows installer today; it also runs from source if you have Python.

Happy to answer questions — this is v1.0 and the roadmap is very much shaped by users.
