Words from @taiwosam !
Hello ππΎπ
My name is Taiwo and I am one of the creators of Veeks, an online community for pet parents and animal lovers.
We built Cuteness Score as a fun comic relief within ourselves and thought we'd share it with the rest of the world. πΈ
Let us know what you think and be sure to check the Veeks app out at https://apps.apple.com/app/veeks... (US and Canada only for now). Shoot me a DM on Twitter for a TestFlight link if you are outside the US and Canada.
Congrats! I just tried it with my pet's photo, but I'm not sure how to interpret the score... from the user perspective, the app might as well give me a random score without AI being involved, and share images just to brag about your pet. Am I missing something?
@emmanuel_eze1@elishaterada Indeed, a couple things happen in the backend that do take into consideration things like how the picture is composed. The only way to make sure it isn't random without seeing the backend code is, really, to test for randomness, like you did. Also, you can't upload random images like a laptop etc.
Of course, the 'scores' are just lighthearted jokes -- they aren't supposed to mean much beyond something fun to share with friends and family like we do among ourselves. But then, we do use AI to generate them. π€
I'm curious, how does it work in the backend? I rarely see image recognition being used in AI tools right now, so this is definitely unique!
Congrats on the launch!
