Cutdown scores every clip for focus, exposure and camera movement, then hands you the keepers as a timeline ready for Premiere, Resolve, Avid or Final Cut. No AI model, no cloud, no account. Free to use, forever.

Hi everyone,
I edit video full-time, and the part I never got faster at was the first step: sitting through hours of rushes deciding what's even usable before the edit starts. On a full shoot day that's most of an afternoon gone before I've made a
single creative decision.
So I started working on a tool to help speed up my workflow, and it evolved into an app that others can easily use, called Cutdown. It analyses your footage and scores every clip for focus, exposure and camera movement, flags the shaky and badly exposed takes, and hands you the keepers as a timeline you open straight in Premiere Pro,
DaVinci Resolve, Avid or Final Cut.
The thing I care most about: there's no AI model in it, it's pure mathematics behind the scenes. Every score traces back to a measurement you can open up and inspect: sharpness, motion stability, exposure, camera direction and so on. You can tune what each one is worth or switch certain metrics off. Nothing is guessed, nothing is invented, and nothing is decided for you. You can see exactly why a clip scored what it did.
It also means your footage never leaves your machine. No uploads, no cloud, no account. It runs entirely offline.
As we all have a bit of subscription fatigue in this industry, I've made Cutdown free to download and use, and I mean free rather than a trial. No card is needed, no expiry, no format or performance restrictions. There's an optional Pro tier upgrade for custom presets and the full metric set, which is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
Mac and Windows, both native and hardware accelerated.
I'd love to know whether the selects match what you'd have picked yourself, that's the only test that matters!
Happy to answer anything!
