I've created my first app. That shows a cat. Or a dog. Just like everybody else on the internet, I've been wasting a stupid amount of time doomscrolling for years. Nothing dramatic, just the usual thing where you sit down at nine and it's somehow half eleven and you couldn't name one thing you actually read. I regret it every time and do it again the next evening. Somebody has to break that loop. And since anyone can make an app these days, I made one. The animals in it are Tango and Cash, my Ridgeback and my Abyssinian. Yes, after the film. They're gone now, but not completely. Cash used to sit down on whatever I was trying to read. Tango would come and lean on me because he'd decided it was walk time and that was that. Neither of them ever cared what I was in the middle of. So now they do it again. You pick the apps that eat your evenings, set a time budget, and when it runs out one of them wanders over and sits on the screen. That's your break. They're mildly annoying about it, same as they always were, and it turns out that was the useful bit. Did it help? Surprisingly - yes. I dose my scrolling deliberately now. There's no internet permission in it, so I've no way of knowing where you spend your time. You can check that on the Play listing.
