I'm Abhay, the solo developer behind CronWatch.
I built CronWatch after repeatedly running into a frustrating problem: cron jobs tend to fail silently. Whether it's a missed backup, a delayed payment sync, or a broken data pipeline, you often don't discover the issue until customers or teammates notice something is wrong.
I wanted a monitoring tool that was quick to set up, straightforward to use, and focused on scheduled jobs.

how does the alerting handle jobs that occasionally run a minute or two late, do you get paged every time or is there some grace window before it counts as a miss?
CronWatch includes a configurable grace window to help avoid false alerts for jobs that occasionally run a little late. Instead of triggering an alert the moment a scheduled execution is missed, it waits for the configured tolerance period before marking the run as missed and sending notifications.
This gives you the flexibility to accommodate normal scheduling delays while still being alerted when a job genuinely fails to run. We designed it to reduce alert fatigue without compromising reliability.

Finally something that does not ask me to install an SDK just to check if my crons are alive. The single ping URL setup was genuinely painless and the Slack alert fired right on time when I faked a missed job.
Keeping setup simple was one of our biggest priorities—we wanted developers to be able to add monitoring with a single ping URL instead of introducing another SDK or agent into their stack.
It's also great to hear you tested the Slack alerts by simulating a missed job. That's exactly the kind of reliability we want CronWatch to provide, so you know you'll be notified when something actually goes wrong.

The single ping URL approach is a smart move—skipping the agent/SDK rabbit hole means I can wire up monitoring in 30 seconds without touching my existing code. Nice execution on the lifecycle tracking too, that's the kind of thing most cron monitors miss.

We're really glad you noticed the lifecycle tracking as well. We built it because knowing whether a job ran isn't enough—you also need visibility into delayed, missed, and completed executions to catch issues before they become incidents.
