What do you think? …

Sam Carlton
I made this as an experiment in compressing data directly into a URL so you can share text without a server or database. https://message.computer/%E1%8D%...

@thatguysam This is actually a really cool idea. I think the symbols in the URL are a bit off putting if you were sharing to the general public, but otherwise really cool.
Sam Carlton
@stusim yeah it’s a bit wacky. It’s a script using chinese to compress english based text
Stuart Sim
@thatguysam Thougts on connecting it to bit.ly or something like that?
Sam Carlton
@stusim Maybe...
oh!
Hi @thatguysam interesting. The concept is very similar to https://itty.bitty.site/edit
Sam Carlton
@ohtejera that’s cool. It looks like it basically works the same but it uses hash instead of the history api
oh!
@thatguysam What types of uses do you identify it may have? Do you have any roadmap?
Sam Carlton
@ohtejera I don’t have any kind of roadmap or anything I just thought it was an interesting idea and wanted to see what people do with it
oh!
@thatguysam What is the limit size of the message?
Sam Carlton
@ohtejera I didn’t set a hard limit on it but I believe the recommended character limit for urls is 1024 so as long as the compressed string is shorter than that it should work, theoretically.
