We started Conflation Labs after watching city planners spend hours digging through zoning PDFs, GIS maps, and email chains just to answer “What can I build here?” for residents and developers. The process was slow, inconsistent, and burned time that should go to real planning work, not hunting for setback tables or parking ratios. Our first versions were simple internal tools that stitched together zoning text and parcel data, but they still felt like search engines. Working closely with our pilot cities, we shifted to a true AI co‑pilot: it reads ordinances, GIS layers, and site plans, then returns clear answers with maps and specific code citations so staff can review, not re‑research. For this launch, we focused on two workflows that create the most friction: answering routine zoning questions at the public counter and doing first‑pass site plan checks for completeness and compliance. The goal is simple: cut the repetitive work by more than half so planners can spend their time on design quality, long‑range planning, and community outcomes instead.
