Your site just went down at 3am. Your phone rings anyway

I've shipped a lot of side projects. And every single one has taught me the same lesson the hard way: you never find out your site is down until a customer tells you.

Uptime email at 3:14am? Buried under 40 newsletters by the time I wake up. Slack ping? Muted, because I mute Slack so I can sleep. Meanwhile the checkout page has been throwing 500s for six hours and the first I hear of it is an angry DM.
