All of us have a carbon footprint. I started Commons after manually tracking and lowering mine over 6 years. I learned that our spending choices matter: I lowered my emissions by 30%, and saved about $2,000 a year, just by living more sustainably. However, I also learned just how difficult and complex the journey can be.

The app offers both a quantified way of tracking carbon emissions through your spending -- and allows you to purchase offsets -- and a qualitative way to work on behavior change in everyday areas of life. Little by little, this app can help regular folks make a huge impact and difference.
