I built ClipShot because I was tired of the little detour.
I hit Print Screen, I want a box around the thing, maybe an arrow, maybe the email blurred, and then I want it on the clipboard so I can paste it into the chat I was already in. Snipping Tool gets me part of the way. The fuller tools are good at annotation and also want to be a whole library, an account, or a subscription. I didn't want another app to live in. I wanted the screenshot to be over before I thought about it.
So ClipShot stays small. It sits out of the way. Print Screen grabs a region, Ctrl+Shift+1 grabs the screen, and both shortcuts can be changed. You mark it up where the capture already is: pen, arrow, text, numbered steps, blur, pixelate. Space copies and closes. Esc backs out. There's a PNG if you actually want a file. It's free, MIT, and nothing leaves the machine.
