What do you think? …

Super interesting. @yo might be a good tool for Juice's clients. :)

@yo @will_allred Thanks for your feedback Will! Appreciate you spreading the word with folks you think might benefit from this.

People who use adblockers and go to websites which have anti-adblocker measures just leave.
Eric Trouton
@maciej_baron Thanks for the feedback. It's a good analogy and we've talked about the comparison internally as well, however the main difference is that with ad blockers, the users can easily tell when there is a paywall or other mechanisms in place. With cleanCART, when users visit finish shopping and proceed to checkout with a browser extension like Honey or CapitalOne Shopping, the extensions will attempt to automatically apply coupons, but cleanCART will block their attempts. Users will then see a notification from the extension that "you have the best price", which is the same thing they would see if extensions did not have any valid coupons at that time. With the reassurance they are not missing out on a deal and no impact to their regular checkout experience, they are less likely to leave than say getting hit with a paywall on your favorite news site :)

Feels like an escalation in the ad block war... and seems user hostile, but ok. If I were a merchant, I can see why I'd want this. I just think inflation is inevitable and the cost of discounts/coupons will eventually be built into the base price.

@chrismessina Hi Chris. Thank you for taking the time to check out the product and share your perspective. We definitely aren't aiming to be user hostile and that's why we don't block coupons - just auto-injection. What we've seen happens when coupon extensions are able to scrape limited use coupons is that merchants stop using discount codes for their marketing because they worry they won't have any control over them. We actually believe this will be good for the user at the end of the day because it will allow merchants to more fully leverage discount code strategies without having to worry their codes will leak.
Chris Messina
@kathleen_booth1 I understand that perspective... but if a user has installed an extension to automatically apply coupon codes, aren't you interfering with the user's intentions? I understand that merchants want to manipulate users into buying more things with discounts, but many merchants from whom I receive email seem to have a promo code in every email — similar to Bed Bath & Beyond's annoying mailers. These companies wouldn't resort to these tactics if they didn't work, but in response, companies like Honey have emerged to tip the balance back towards the consumer, which had to take on the burden of searching dozens of coupon sites to try to find deals just to bring the price back to a reasonable level. I guess it sucks on both ends, which is why I originally observed that cleanCART is just another escalation in this never-ending capitalist push and pull between sellers and buyers.

I think this is an evil deceptive product. Shame on you.

Great product! Since i work at a Ecom company, i have few trade offs regarding the solution. 1. Instead of using clearCart, what if the ecom platforms create coupon code which is user specific ? 2. Aren't we losing revenue where users are usually looking to purchase by using discount coupons / Beat deals these extensions are offering?

For e-commerce this is almost a must!
