In your ad stating that you don't want to attract "price driven" customers, but brand loyal ones... that sounds a lot like we don't want people without disposable incomes buying our products. At a time when many are cash strapped this seems pretty distasteful. Let customers use the tools they can to receive a discount, blocking them to better track your ROI is just gross.

@puppycodes Hi Alice. Sorry to hear that you find it distasteful. To be clear, we are not anti-coupon and our product does not prevent shoppers from using coupons. What it does do is prevent third party extensions from scraping codes that are not intended for everyone and then auto-injecting them. When our solution is in place, any customer can still manually enter any code they want - the only thing we stop are the robots. Unfortunately, we've seen examples of employee discount codes being shared, codes like MILITARYHERO that offer discounts to veterans, and FRONTLINERESPONDER that offer discounts to healthcare workers during the COVID pandemic all being shared by these extensions. In the "real world", we would never walk into a store and falsely claim to be an employee, Army vet, or healthcare worker in order to get a discount, and we don't think that same behavior should be okay online. We also want to give retailers a fighting chance. This past year we've seen too many small businesses go out of business because their brick and mortar locations were shut down or limited due to the pandemic. For many of them, ecommerce is the only way to stay afloat and when they lose control of their discount strategies, they also take a big hit to their margins. We're trying to help them regain some degree of control. I hope this helps shed some light on why we built cleanCART.

@kathleen_booth1 Robots aren't buying the products though people are. If you are a business and want to validate everyone that uses a coupon then you probably should not be using publicly available coupons. Your product blocks people from knowing there may be a discount, your frontline responder example is a problem for how an ecommerce platform roles out their coupons, your product doesn't solve that problem it just creates a new one by stopping everyone from seeing coupons that could save them money. The customer (especially the cash strapped one) just loses with this, and I would challenge the logic that somehow small business are hurt by there own coupons that they roll out...

We've received similar feedback that many merchants feel a loss of control with coupon extensions and sometimes feel forced to work with them under costly affiliate deals that yield unclear or inconsistent results. With cleanCART, we are hoping to arm our partners with the tools to restore control to their discounting strategy, protect their margins, and no longer fear the big extensions!
