In 500 BC, Confucius taught in China. Socrates debated in Athens. Buddha meditated in India. Darius conquered Persia. All happening at the same time. Now you can see it all on one map.

Hey Product Hunt! π
I built Chrono Civilizations because I've always been fascinated by one question: what was happening in the rest of the world while [X] was happening?
History textbooks teach us civilizations in isolation β you learn about Ancient Rome in one chapter and Tang Dynasty China in another. But they existed at the same time! The Silk Road connected them. The Mongols reshaped both.
So I built an interactive map where you can:
Slide through 5,500 years and watch empire borders morph in real-time
See events from 10 civilizations side-by-side on the same map
Discover surprising contemporaries (did you know the Aztec Empire and the Ottoman Empire overlapped for decades?)
Under the hood:
1,477 curated events, each with bilingual descriptions
2,766 territory polygons from hand-crafted data + the Cliopatria historical geospatial dataset
Smart clustering & viewport culling for smooth performance even with thousands of markers
I'd love your feedback β especially on what civilizations, events, or time periods you'd like to see expanded. π
