Hi Product Hunt š I'm Yashvanth, and I built choco video.
I wanted to turn long podcasts and interviews into short clips, but every tool I tried uploaded my whole video, charged monthly minutes and watermarked the free tier. So I built one that runs on my own Mac.
What it does: you drop in a long video and get ranked vertical clips. Each clip starts and ends on a complete thought, keeps whoever is talking in frame and has word-timed captions burned in. Every clip shows why it was picked. A 48-minute interview became four finished clips in under 4 minutes on my M3 Pro.
Why it's different:
⢠Your video never leaves your Mac. Only the transcript text goes to the picker you choose, and with Apple's on-device model, nothing leaves at all.
⢠No account, no watermark, no monthly limit.
⢠Free and open source (MIT).
Honest limits: it needs an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 14+, and Windows is coming later. It isn't notarized yet, so you click "Open Anyway" once, or use the one-line Terminal installer on the site. I built it with a lot of help from Claude Code.
I'd love to hear how the picks do on your own videos, and what would make you switch from what you use now. I'm here all day to answer questions š
