ChalkStash helps teachers discover classroom tools they may not know about, by grade and by need, like sensory tools or a wobble seat for students who focus better when they can move. Each find explains why it helps. The classroom exchange lets teachers post what they need or have extra of, so supplies go to another school instead of waste. For PTAs, PTOs and families: plan a teacher thank-you on one page, with the teacher's favorites, who brings what, surprise mode and a group chat. Free.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Ishan, and I built ChalkStash.
Teachers spend their own money on classroom supplies every year, and the people who would happily help usually don't know what is actually needed. ChalkStash tries to close that gap.
Teacher finds: a catalog of supplies ranked by how often real classroom supply lists ask for them, by grade.
Your Stash: save what your classroom needs and share one link. Supporters claim an item and buy it from the retailer; you confirm when it arrives, so nothing gets bought twice.
Find a school: look up any US public or private school and see the lists its teachers have shared.
Classroom exchange: give, swap or borrow supplies between approved schools.
It's free for teachers. Some product links are affiliate links, which is how ChalkStash pays for itself.
I'd love feedback, especially from teachers: what's missing from the catalog, and what would make sharing a list easier?
Update: appreciation events are live on ChalkStash today.
A quick word on why I built this. A lot of teachers, especially new ones, never hear about the tools beyond the standard supply list that can make a real difference, like noise-reducing earmuffs or a wobble seat for students who need sensory support. So every find on ChalkStash is sorted by grade and by need, and says why it helps. Buy it wherever you like; the explanation is there either way.
I also kept seeing one classroom with extra supplies while another couldn't cover the basics. The classroom exchange lets teachers post "I need this" or "I have extra, does anyone need it?" and give, swap or lend between approved schools.
What's new today is for PTAs, PTOs, HSAs and families. Teacher appreciation usually means a sign-up sheet, a group text and three people buying the same gift. Now it's one page:
the teacher's own favorites, like their coffee order and gift card stores
everyone picks what they'll buy or bring, with quantities, so nothing doubles up
surprise mode keeps who gave what hidden from the teacher
a group chat that includes everyone invited, encrypted in transit and stored encrypted
a personal invite link, then a one-tap join after a quick email sign-in
There are other sign-up tools out there. What I tried to do differently is build it for schools and put the teacher's wish list, the sign-up and the chat in one place, for free.
If you're in a parent group, I'd love to hear how you run appreciation week now and what would make it easier.
