Virtual desktop pet cats for macOS. 6 cats with unique personalities walk your dock, perch on windows, and chat with you through Ollama ā fully local, fully private. Written in a single Swift file with 368 hand-drawn sprites. No dependencies.
Hey Product Hunt! š
I'm William, a developer based in Lima, Peru. I built CATAI because I wanted
a desktop companion that was fun, beautiful, and actually useful ā not just
another AI chatbot.
Here's what makes CATAI different:
š± It's a virtual pet, not a chat window. Pixel art cats walk along your macOS
dock with 368 hand-drawn sprites. They meow randomly, eat, sleep, and get angry.
Click one to chat.
š Your conversations stay on your machine. CATAI connects to Ollama running
locally ā no cloud, no API keys, no data leaving your computer.
šØ Everything is pixel art ā the cats, the chat bubbles, the settings panel.
It feels like a Game Boy app living on your Mac.
ā” The entire app is ONE Swift file (~1500 lines). No Xcode project, no
CocoaPods, no package manager. Just compile and run.
š Trilingual ā switch between French, English, and Spanish with flag buttons.
Each of the 6 cats has a distinct personality powered by its own system prompt:
Citrouille tells jokes, Ombre asks philosophical questions, Einstein shares
science facts, Indiana tells adventure stories...
I'd love to hear which cat personality you'd want to add!
