Hey everyone - Aditya here, founder of Oasis Orbital.
Right now, there are thousands of satellites orbiting Earth, collecting real-time data every second.
But if you actually want to use that data, you need dashboards, technical tools, and training. Most people - including the ones who need it - can’t access it.
I kept coming back to a simple question:
What if you could just… talk to it?
That’s what led to Call a Satellite.
You can ask things like:
“Where are you right now?”
“How fast are you moving?”
“What are you passing over?”
…and get answers grounded in live orbital data.
The process was messy.
At first, it was just a basic idea - connect satellite telemetry to a conversational interface.
Then it became a challenge of:
figuring out how to pull and process live orbital data (TLE + propagation)
deciding when to use real data vs. generated responses
making it feel fast, natural, and actually fun to use
A big turning point was realizing this shouldn’t feel like a tool -
it should feel like an experience.
We piloted it in a university classroom, and the moment students started asking random questions and laughing at the responses - that’s when it clicked.
6 callable satellites (with distinct voices/personas): ISS, Hubble, Tiangong, Landsat 9, Terra, NOAA‑20.
Live orbital mechanics (not a static map): real-time position + speed + altitude computed from NORAD/CelesTrak TLEs using SGP4.
“Show me anywhere” + overhead detection: say a place and it shows which satellites are overhead right now (with elevation/visibility).
Photorealistic 3D globe: Cesium globe with real Earth imagery, zoom space → street.
Extra live layers (optional, but impressive):
Space debris tracking layer
NEO (asteroid) close approaches (NASA/JPL data) and you can “call” one
Aircraft layer (ADS‑B)
