Cairn turns Markdown tasks in your Obsidian vault or any folder into fast native Today, Upcoming, Inbox, Pool, and Search views on iPhone and iPad. Every edit is written back to the originalmd file. No account, proprietary database, ads, analytics, or lock-in. Free.

one thing that would make cairn a daily driver for me is recurring tasks with flexible cadences, like every other tuesday or the first monday of the month, written right into the markdown frontmatter so the views just handle it

Thanks, Zeki! Cairn already supports recurring tasks in the Obsidian Tasks format. I’d love to understand the exact workflow you have in mind, are patterns like “every other Tuesday” or “the first Monday of every month” not being recognized, or would you like a native UI for creating them?
Finally a tasks app that respects plain markdown and doesn't shove everything into its own database. The Today view on iPad is snappy and edits round-trip back to my vault without a hiccup.
Writing changes back to the original md files instead of hiding tasks in some proprietary store is exactly the kind of restraint I want from a task tool. Obsidian users will appreciate not having to babysit a separate sync layer just to check off groceries.
