I’m the creator of CADBase — an open-source hub and common data environment (CDE) for 3D engineering models, BIM, and G-code.
We designed CADBase to break down CAD interoperability barriers between proprietary systems. While we provide a live cloud version, the entire platform can be deployed on-premise, using an object-based data layout to store and version independent file sets for different engineering software under a single part number.
Technical Architecture & Capabilities:
3D Viewer: Inspect STEP, IFC, G-code, and standard web 3D formats (STL, GLTF, GLB) natively in your browser tab.
Neutral Integration Hub: Connect desktop tools via a strictly typed GraphQL API or use our ready plugins for FreeCAD and Blender.
On-Premise Deployment: Run the entire stack (Rust Actix-web/Yew, PostgreSQL and S3) locally on your own hardware for absolute data isolation.
The core platform is entirely open-source, distributed under the MIT and GNU AGPL v3.0 licenses. Our primary development hub is on GitLab, with official mirrors automatically synchronized on GitHub so you can easily star, fork, or contribute wherever you prefer.
