ByChance starts with the real world. It helps you discover people who are physically around you, making spontaneous, in-person connections possible. Users can see who's nearby, post real-time updates, interact with people in the same place, and build connections that begin offline rather than online. Key features include: Wave interactions that encourage mutual, low-pressure introductions. A dynamic Score that reflects recent participation instead of follower counts.

Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Sannidhya, the founder of ByChance.
I kept noticing something strange: we're surrounded by people every day—in cafés, universities, airports, gyms, concerts—but our phones are disconnected from the people physically around us. Social media helps us connect with people far away, yet it often ignores the ones just a few meters from us.
That question led me to build ByChance.
ByChance adds a live social layer to the real world. You can discover who's nearby, share what's happening in the moment, and start conversations that wouldn't have happened otherwise. The goal isn't more screen time—it's creating more real-life opportunities.
Building a proximity-based social app came with plenty of technical and product challenges, from balancing privacy with discovery to making real-time interactions feel natural. Every design decision was guided by one question:
**"Can technology help create more genuine chance encounters instead of replacing them?"**
I'd genuinely love your feedback—whether it's on the concept, the product, or what you'd like to see next. I'll be here throughout the day answering every question.
Thanks for checking out ByChance.

The Wave interaction is such a clever UX choice, turning a simple nudge into something that actually feels low-stakes and human instead of awkward.

the wave interaction is a really thoughtful touch, takes all the awkwardness out of saying hi to a stranger in the same cafe.
