Hi Product Hunt!
I’m Mateusz.
Working in investment banking by day, my MacBook is constantly plugged into an external monitor. I quickly noticed that sitting at 100% all day was aggressively degrading my battery's maximum capacity. I couldn't find a lightweight tool that solved this exactly on my terms, so I built bSaver.
Here is why I created it and what makes it different:
True battery rest: I wanted to cap charging (e.g., at the recommended 80%) to trigger macOS’s native hardware bypass. This cuts the current completely (0 mA), letting the battery actually rest instead of micro-cycling.
No subscriptions: I was tired of paying monthly fees for simple utilities. bSaver is a strict one-time purchase. No accounts, no recurring charges.
Private by design: Complete privacy was my priority. There is absolutely zero telemetry, analytics, or background tracking.
100% hardware safety: The app doesn't modify your firmware. It simply switches charging on and off using native controls, leaving voltage and thermal protections entirely in the hands of Apple's hardware.
Accurate system readings: To prevent macOS battery estimates from drifting over time, I built in an automatic calibration charge (every 30 days or 20 cycles) to keep your percentage and health readings perfectly precise.
I’d love for you to try it out — there’s a free 7-day trial at bsaver.pl.
I'm here all day to answer your questions, talk about macOS process automation, or hear your feedback!
@mateusz_matyszczuk Really cool! That should save my batteries life to the fullest! :)
What would you say: how often should I run the calibration to keep the battery reading accurate?
@denise_louis Hey Hey! App does the calibration automatically, every 20 cycles or 30 days - depending which one will be first. Also if you decide to charge the battery 100% - e.g. due to being on a journey, it will also do the calibration and will reset the cycle and days counter to do it automatically later on.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Mat
