bonkersUI is an open-source library of 498 accessible, animated React components you copy, paste, and own. TypeScript-native, zero dependencies, MIT licensed. Works with Next.js, Vite, and Remix.

Every new project started the same way for me: a blank screen, a deadline, and a component library that made my site look like everyone else's. The popular libraries were solid, but they felt lifeless. And whenever I wanted something truly unique, I ended up fighting the library instead of building with it.
So one night I started building the components I actually wanted to use: buttons that felt physical, loaders that were fun to watch, heroes that made people stop scrolling. Each one had to be accessible, and each one had to belong to the developer, not to a package. One component became ten, ten became a hundred, and before I knew it, bonkersUI had nearly 500.
The feedback that helped most was brutally simple: "It looks amazing on my laptop, but it's broken on my phone." It stung, because most people discover a site on their phone first. So I went back through every component: fixing layouts that overflowed, making hover effects work with touch, and smoothing out animations that lagged on slower devices. A visually heavy page went from stuttering to smooth, and the whole site now feels as good in your hand as it does on a big screen.
That lesson changed how I build: if it doesn't delight on the smallest screen, it isn't finished.
