Hi all, I made an app that lets you learn Japanese by messaging people at your level. The reason I built it: context matters a lot when you're learning a word, and most apps give you none. If you type in Japanese, it corrects it. If you type in anything else, it translates it to Japanese. iOS is on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/6760983463 Android is still in closed beta. Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built this because I'm an intermediate Japanese learner myself, and at some point I realised my studying was almost all input and no output. I could read and listen well enough, but without Japanese friends there was nowhere to actually use any of it.
The other thing I kept wanting was a comfortable way to pick up vocabulary in context — words I'd actually run into in a conversation, rather than words off a list.
So the app pairs you with other people learning the same language, corrects what you write, and turns the words from your own messages into quizzes.
Would love to hear what you think. All feedback welcome.
