Chat Preset is my favorite feature — and the one I value most!
I have different setups for work, coding, and writing — each with its own model, parameters, and tools. Before, switching meant reconfiguring everything from scratch every time. Now I just tap a preset and I'm set.
Honestly, I haven't found another app that does this well on simplifying workflow on your phone. BayesChat deserves way more attention than it's getting!
What needs improvement
A few things would make this even better:
Desktop/web version — right now it's iOS/iPadOS only, and the Mac version is only coming soon. Having it on desktop or web would make it much more useful for longer work sessions.
A hosted model option — BYOK is great if you're technical, but some users just want to try the app without sourcing their own API keys. A lightweight hosted option for newcomers could help.
Android support — an Android version would open it up to way more people.
Small asks, but these would take it further.
vs Alternatives

GeepsI compared BayesChat with Chatbox AI, OpenCat, and Geeps before deciding, and a few things stood out:
Chat Presets — this is the deciding factor. The other clients don't let you save model, prompt, parameters, and tools as one reusable preset. Chatbox and OpenCat don't do presets at all, and Geeps only has a prompt library. Being able to switch between a "Research" setup and an "Email" setup in one tap is a real workflow win.
MCP tools — BayesChat lets me attach any MCP server per chat with the tool calls actually visible. That's more useful than the limited or hosted-only options in the others.
One-time purchase — the others either charge subscriptions or only bundle model access. $14.99 for lifetime, with my own API key, is the dealbreaker for me.
Privacy on device, live LaTeX streaming, and full export options sealed it.

I built BayesChat for two reasons:
Motivation 1: Privacy & Cost
Talking to AI is getting more interesting and important every day. People want to ask AI tons of questions — even "stupid" ones. But asking cloud providers costs money, and free tiers are limited. Besides, People care about their privacy — they don't want AI companies know what they're thinking about every day. That's why keeping data on local machine and using local models matters. As model capabilities continue to improve, local models are now powerful enough for daily use. Everyone needs a private AI assistant on their own PC or phone.
Motivation 2: No Good Client Exists
I searched for months for a privacy-first, BYOK chat client that stayed out of my way. What I found was either overloaded with features or missing essentials: clean UI, MCP support, proper Markdown/LaTeX rendering, and Chat Presets — the ability to save and switch complete configurations (prompts, models, parameters, tools) with one tap.
So I built BayesChat — the lightweight client I wished existed.
