Nearly a decade ago, I began my journey in acting, filmmaking, and content creation. A journey worth taking. During those years, I met so many incredibly talented creators. Some were doing well, while others were struggling to get discovered, reach the right audiences, or even build sustainable careers in the industry.
A few years, I started asking myself a question. What if I stopped waiting for someone else to solve this problem and build something myself? After all, I have always found solace in creation. But then, there was one major problem. I had no idea where to start. I mean, I had never built software before. This was something foreign to me at the time.
from that moment on, I started watching Youtube videos about programming, and teaching myself the basics. That journey eventually led me to building Bantu Stream Connect. Not as easy as it sounds. In fact, It was one of the hardest experiences of my life. I remember nights when I questioned myself, wondering whether I was truly capable of doing this. Whether I had what it took to turn something I had imagined into something real. But, I never let those doubts stop me, and here I am today, with a fully functioning product. Something I'm genuinely proud of.
of course, it didn't happen overnight. It took many launches, countless changes, and different versions before I could finally look at what I had built and say to myself, " This is it. This is the one." Enough about that. I'm here to tell you about this product I've built.
Bantu Stream Connect (BSC) is a streaming and social platform where people can discover music, films, series, podcasts, long form, short form videos, and creators, all in one place.
I built this platform around one core belief. Creators deserve to retain 100% ownership of what the create. It's their life's work. They deserve more opportunities to share their work, reach audiences, and build meaningful connections with the people who appreciate what they create.
BSC is now live on the App Store, Google Play Store and the web. And yes, we're still early, but there's plenty we're learning and continuously improving, not just around infrastructure, but also content, discovery, creator onboarding, user experience, audience engagement, and so much more. Building something like this has taught me that launching a product isn't the end of the journey. In many ways, it's only the beginning.
