Balanor is bookkeeping for one person running their own business in Australia. Invoices, quotes, receipt scanning that reads the GST on your phone, payment reminders, and the whole BAS worksheet, every label, free. Your books are written to your own phone, Mac or PC: no Balanor account, no tracking, and your full export is always free. Pro adds sync through your own Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud (encrypted on your device first), automatic reminders and bank payment files.

Hi Product Hunt. I'm Chris, and I built Balanor because every bookkeeping app I tried for my own business wanted an account, a subscription and my data on its servers, and still didn't do the one Australian thing I actually needed: the BAS.
Balanor keeps the books on your own device. Invoices and quotes with your logo, sent from your own email address. Receipt scanning that reads the supplier, date, amount and GST on the phone. Payment reminders. And the whole BAS worksheet, G1 to 1B and net GST, counted the way the ATO counts it for a cash-basis business: when you're paid, not when you send the invoice. Mark a quarter lodged and its figures stay frozen.
Three things I cared about:
• No account. Nothing is sent to us. The app runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows.
• Free to use, and your full export is always free. Pro (A$7.99 a month or A$79.99 a year, GST included) adds sync through your own Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud, encrypted on your device before it goes, plus automatic reminders and bank payment files. One subscription covers all your devices.
• It's built for Australia only, on a cash basis, and it does not give tax advice: it does the arithmetic and your accountant checks the labels.
I'd love to hear what a sole trader outside Australia would need from it, and what's missing for the ones inside.
