My goal with Bags was to challenge the current status quo of NFTs and the concept of NFT art by creating a collection that was both cognizant of rarity while directly opposing the concept of rarity-based trading. Each Bag is a unique digital collectible that contains a combination of NFTs and cryptocurrencies. However, the value of each Bag isn't just based on rarity. Instead, the NFTs and cryptocurrencies included in each Bag have their own inherent rarity based on availability and valuation, while each Bag's generative metadata ensures that no two Bags are exactly alike. This combination of conceptual rarity and data-based rarity creates a unique value proposition that challenges the current status quo of NFTs. Rather than being little more than a "shitcoin", Bags are a true digital collectible, with value that goes beyond mere rarity. For me, the most exciting part of creating Bags has been the opportunity to use generative art as a deployment package for the metadata itself. This approach puts the focus back on the art itself, rather than on the perceived value of the NFT as a tradable commodity. As an artist and creator, I believe that it's important to challenge the current ideas of NFT and crypto art. We need to move beyond the idea of NFTs as mere tradable commodities and start thinking of them as a true form of digital art. By creating Bags, I hope to push the conversation around NFTs in a new direction. I believe that the interplay between conceptual and data-based rarity is an important step forward for the entire industry, and I'm excited to see where this experiment takes us. I want to create a collection that challenges the current status quo, and that puts the focus back on the creativity and uniqueness of each individual piece. If we can achieve that, then I believe that the potential of NFTs as a form of true digital art is limitless.
